What I wrote to myself as I tried to find words for the deadly Charlottesvile Protest

I was struggling to find words to describe my thoughts and feelings about everything that happened in Charlottesville and the immediate after math. The following is what I ended up writing. I am choosing to share it, because it may provide comfort to someone else as well.

Dear Human

Your job is to be kind

Your job is to love

Your job is to understand everyone has faults

Your job is to tend to those who need your help and empathy

Your job is to appreciate life, human, nature, animals and yes even insects (appreciation is different than love)

Dear Human

When your heart is heavy, know others feel your pain

When your heart is full of love, know others feel your joy

Dear Human

The world needs your compassion more than your bigotry

Dear Human

The world needs your love more than your hate

Dear Human

It is okay to cry

It is okay to be angry, hurt and scared

Your light is what will cause change

Embrace your light and let it shine
